Avalanche Homestead
Avalanche provides an opportunity for guests to experience the daily operation of a successful farming operation.
For more than a decade, Avalanche Homestead has operated as a high quality rural retreat for domestic and international guests wanting to experience life on an Australian working sheep and cattle property.
The main homestead is positioned on a spur with truly spectacular views. The homestead has three guest rooms each with en-suite private bathrooms. A new guest house with four double/twin rooms, each one has a large modern bathroom with skylights. There is a warm lounge area with open fire and tea and coffee making facilities, although all guests are welcome to use the huge living area and dining room at the homestead.
The property runs cattle and fine wool sheep. The horses are used for mustering the stock, although we have some quiet ones for guests who have not ridden for some time.
You may join in or observe the work, see the dogs bring in the sheep and cattle, have ago at shearing a sheep under the expert guidance of a shearer, ride or walk through the tall eucalyptus trees and see and hear the many different types of birds and native animals that make it their home. For those not so agile there is always a 4WD vehicle to transport you around the property.
Dinner at Avalanche Homestead is by candlelight in the main dining room, where fine food is complemented by an informal atmosphere and conversations with other guests - one of the many highlights of your stay at Avalanche Homestead. During the day, lunch by the large swimming pool is appealing, while the library includes many volumes that give you an insight into Australia's heritage.
Our seven modern guest rooms all have private bathrooms, king and queen size or oversized twin beds and views over the property. Guests are always welcome in our huge living area and dining room, while the guest house also has a lounge with an open fire and a kitchen area with facilities to make an early morning cup of tea or coffee.
