Information on Moe, VIC

Moe railway station
Photo 25/03/2008 submitted by Gary Pope, Many Thanks

Moe hosts a fine horse racing track for gallops. It is also now the southern entrance to the Baw Baw National Park.
From Moe, you can take day trips (or stay-over) north up to Thompson Dam

(Trivia note: the spelling of the name of the Thompson Dam versus the old Thomson railway station at the bridge over the Thomson River...
There are numerous examples of variations in the spelling of Thomson or Thompson in the area - even the local street signs vary!)

A recommendation: Check out the local pubs for dining or drop into Michael Gotis' cafe/restaurant for some great take-away or eat-in experiences of great roasts!
We've made this a 'must-stop-and-eat' point en route to the hills for years now, and never been disappointed!
See "Michael's at 50 George St at the end of town opposite the railway!..... Gaz.

The area was settled in the 1850s and the township of Moe was originally located 3 km to the north of its present site.

In the neighbourhood:
Morwell (14km); Yarragon (17km); Tyers (19km); Traralgon (24km); Rawson (27km); Mirboo North (27km); Warragul (29km); Walhalla (31km); Drouin (36km); Leongatha (43km); Koonwarra (50km); Meeniyan (50km); Foster (53km)
